Joglo is the name given to a traditional Javanese house normally of a significant size. Our Rumah Joglo was formally the home of a Javanese aristocrat and its adjoining rooms are is over 1000 square metres in size. We purchased it and moved it piece by piece from a distance of thirty kilometres when we heard it was to be demolished and the beautiful antique carvings it contained were to be sold individually. To this building we have now added two garden pavilions giving Rumah Joglo a total of 5 rooms.
