Joglo is the name given to a traditional Javanese house normally of a significant size. Our Rumah Joglo was formally the home of a Javanese aristocrat and is over 1000 square metres in size. We purchased it and moved it piece by piece from a distance of thirty kilometres when we heard it was to be demolished and the beautiful antique carvings it contained were to be sold individually. To this building we have now added two garden pavilions giving Rumah Joglo a total of 5 rooms.
Accomodation
Tembi is the Yogyakarta base for d'Omah, literally translated "at home" in the Javanese language. At home in Tembi takes the form of comfortable spacious accommodation in artistically restored, old Javanese houses with up to date facilities including airconditioning, swimming pools, internet connection and international TV for those who want to keep in touch with the outside world. Each house has its central Pendopo or meeting area and an abundance of quiet corners for relaxing or enjoying intimate moments with your friends. Scattered throughout these homes are Javanese antiques combined with contemporary art. The homes become an extension of the nearby art gallery - a unique combination of old and new Java. The service is charming and typically Javanese-friendly, non obtrusive and somewhat relaxed.

Rumah Pendopo
Rumah Pendopo - Pendopo in the name given to the classic pavilion central to many Javanese houses which was traditionally used to welcome guests. Our Rumah Pendopo was the house of a former district chief or Bupati and the five bedrooms have private sitting areas with lotus ponds and lush gardens. There is a central swimming pool and terrace area.

Rumah Camat
Rumah Camat was formerly the home of the Camat or Local Area Head. The building is over a hundred years old and was almost completely destroyed by the disastrous 2006 earthquake that killed 6000 people. It has now been painstakingly restored to its former style on the exterior. The interior has been sympathetically modernized to include air conditional bedrooms all with cable TV and mini bars. Rumah Camat also has a central swimming pool.
